Sound impression
Walking rhythm
This seems to be a swinging pop-Jazz in a walking rhythm.
Skillful
The funky & skillful play is the beauty of SHOGUN. And a rich & powerful performance of the horn section makes the sound of "SHOGUN" gorgeous & festive.
It was one of the distinctive feature of them, even they didn't have a horn section in member.
Comical
Another unique feature of SHOGUN music is the lyrics mostly written in English. They were created by the band guitarist, Casey Rankin.
Thanks to him, "SHOGUN" could keep a stylish image, like a western rock band.
By the way, the bassist "Mitchie Nagaoka" is taking a vocal on this song.
He is a Japanese guy, and not a native speaker of English at all.
Perhaps, that is why this song sounds pretty comical, since his non-fluent English reminds us some laughable troubles which we, or our friends were experienced in the overseas.
