Unlike his well known hit songs, our pick for today is not dynamic or impressive, but moderated, peaceful, and relaxing.

Gene Page Arranger

Gene page was an American composer, arranger, pianist, and music producer active from the mid '60s to 1998.

A node

Gene page had collaborated with dozens of notable stars in the American popular music scene, namely, Jefferson Starship, the Supremes, Barbra Streisand, Cher, Barry White, the Love Unlimited Orchestra, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, George Benson, the Jackson 5, Roberta Flack, Elton John ("Philadelphia Freedom"), Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Lionel Richie etc. etc, since the 60s.

And participated in many gold or platinums disks as an arranger or conductor.

Among them, his interaction with soul & funk super star, Barry White is well-known.

Two of them formed a famous instrumental group "The love unlimited orchestra" later.

There are a few excellent references about Gene Page available on the internet. And we have linked them in the bottom of this section.

Please have a look at them for further information.

Participation in Inoue's album

In the early '70s, recording in overseas were still very rare, and therefore it was a premium experience for Japanese popular music artists.

But as a reward for a big hit of his last single, and for some other strategic reasons, Inoue's 4th album, "Kōri no sekai" (The world of ice) was partially recorded in London.

Surprisingly, this album, "Kōri no sekai" caused a phenomenon, and became a million seller album for the first time in Japanese popular music history.

(Actually, it was a revolutionary episode for Japanese popular music scene, since traditionally, the music like this was not an area, which publishers were commercially interested in.)

Thanks to a huge sales yielded from "Kōri no sekai", a music producer to "Yōsui Ino'ue", and the record company agreed to plan the next recording of him also in overseas.

Then his 5th album, namely "Nishoku-no koma" (A two-tone tops) was again allowed a luxury recording, but this time in Los Angeles.

A renowned arranger, "Jack Nitzsche" became a main contact for the recording team from Japan. And first class musicians like, Ray Parker Jr., David T.Walker, Harvey Mason, Wilton Felder, Joe Sample, Milt Holland, etc were invited for the recording.

Gene Page was also requested to participate in this album as an arranger in this stream.

Finally, here is a famous "Love's Theme", performed by "The Love Unlimited Orchestra" in 1973.

This is one of the instrumental music arranged by "Gene Page".

"The Love Unlimited Orchestra"'s "Love's Theme"is too well known, and we have nothing to explain. Please have a look at the Wikipedia pages linked respectively.
