"Takeshi Kobayashi" is a singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, lyricist, keyboardist, and music producer active since 1980.
One of the most active, and pronounced music producer who is leading the J-pop since the 'late 80s.
Early times
"Kobayashi" started learning the classical piano when he was five.
He continued to expose himself to music, and began to perform as an amateur musician in high school.
Around 1980, he started his professional career, after winning in the 1st "Harajuku music festival" held in the same year.

And in 1982, he wrote a breezy pop-tune, "Omoikiri American" (Enjoy America at full power) to a rising pop-singer, "Anri".

On the other hand, he was participating in lives, or recordings of the artists like, "Yosui Ino'ue, Ryūichi Sakamoto, "Yukihiro Takahashi", "Taeko Ohnuki" or Keisuke kuwata" and etc, as a keyboardist, and got acquainted with those notable musicians.
Record Award
In 1991, "Kobayashi" produced a notable idol star, "Kyoko Koizumi", and offered a slight moist, but nice pop song, "Anata-ni aete yokatta". (Grateful to meet you.)
This song became a million seller, and received a "Japan record award, gold disk award". "Kobayashi" himself was also awarded an "Arrangement award", and established a position of a hit maker.

In the early '90s, "Kobayashi" began to produce a rock group, "Mr Children", and a pop duo, "My little lover".
The both band became super popular music groups, and achieved a tremendous sales throughout the '90s.'

Since 2016, he has been taking part as a music producer, in a promotion campaign titled "Find my Tokyo", sponsored by "Tokyo metro".
On this series of TV commercials, he is not only writing a music, but also appearing on them as one of the casts.

And just for your information, the main cast appearing on the music video is an up-and-coming actor,"Nana Komatsu".

In the main part, "Koizumi"'s pure natural voice sings a song in relaxed tone, even it is a little emotional lyrics.

"Koizumi" debuted in 1982 with a single, "Watashi-no 16-sai" (My age 16). Since then, 42 singles, and 26 original, 14 Video cassette & DVDs, and 25 best albums have been released until now.
Early times
"Kyōko Koizumi" started her challenge to become an idol star in 1981, when she was a middle school student.
From the early '70s to the mid '80s, there was a TV variety show called, "Star Tanjō!" (A star is born). It was an open talent scout audition, and hundreds of thousands participants entered the competition, and 80 of them were actually debuted as professional singers.

"Koizumi" entered the audition, and passed the preliminary round. She then advanced to the final, and qualified. And finally received formal offers from record companies for debuting.
Debut
After a moment, "Kyōko Koizumi" debuted in 1982 with her first single, "Watashi-no 16-sai" (My age 16).
Interestingly, 1982 was a year which a lot of talented idol stars, who had powerfully lead the scene later, were debuted.
This group of idols stars are often called as "Hana-no 82-nenn-gumi" (A shining batch of 1982). Among them, "Kyōko Koizumi" was making a good showing.
Break
In 1983, "Koizumi" released a sunny, and lively pop-tune, "Makka-na Onna-no-ko" (Bright red young woman) as her 5th single record.
She had been singing very well made, orthodox idol pop songs until this, and was successful more than enough.
But this new summer pops, "Makka-na Onna-no-ko" (Bright red young woman) was perfectly matched with her active, boyish, independent, and a little cheeky nature, and appealed well to the new fans as well as existing.
Thanks to this song, she found a comfortable position as both singer & idol star, and her presence in a pop music scene started to increase.
"Nagisa-no 'high-collar' Ningyo"
Since then, she began to show her pristine, cheerful, and outgoing face to the fans.
The songs prepared for her had also been changed to more sunny, active, and lively tones.
In 1984, "Koizumi" released very bright, and sparkling pop song, "Nagisa-no 'high-collar' Ningyo" (A super modern mermaid on the beach. "High-collar" is an adopted, and naturalized word, which means modern & sophisticated.)
This became the first number one hit for her, and also achieved a good sales.
By this smash hit, "Koizumi" was chosen as a cast member for a big year-end music program, "Kōhaku Uta Gassen".
"Nante'-tatte idol"
But the apex as an idol star, was perhaps "Koizumi"'s 1985 big hit song, "Nante'-tatte idol" (Idol star is the best than anything else.).
At this stage, "Koizumi" had already achieved the highest level as an idol star. And it seemed that she had been enjoying to watch herself, acting as an evolved idol star.
This was an epoch making hits song in a lot of ways. And certainly, it has been a signature song of her.
As an actor
She is such a great idol star and singer, but if we look back on her history, she is even more prominent as an actor since she has performed a lot of TV series, and movies, and received quite a few of major awards until now.

Recent
"Koizumi" seems to be keeping herself busy as both an actor and singer.
In 2013, she appeared on a popular, and influential TV drama series "Ama-chan" aired by NHK.
She performed a mother of heroin very well, and attracted a lot of new audience as well as old fans. (Because the majority of recent youth don't really know the idol stars of the '80s.)
In 2015, she formed a new film production company, aiming at providing an environment able to create a movie with less demand for compliance.
And in 2018, she announced to pause her activities on singing and acting, to focus more on film production.
Actually, we agree that too much of the recent self-imposed restrictions do not help to make interesting movies.
We wish her challenges would become successful.

Finally, this is a trailer video from the disk No.4 of her complete single album series, "Koizumi Chronicle".
In 2017, for celebrating the 35 years anniversary of "Kyōko Koizumi", A set of 3 CDs featuring all of her single records were remastered and released.
"Koizumi" has released nearly 50 single records (incl. Digital only single) since her debut in 1982.
There had been more than a hundred of young idols stars debuting every year, particularly from the '70s to the early '90s.
But it might be less than 10 who continued to be a popular singer for more than 30 years, and released nearly 50 of single records.
From cute idol pops to energetic rock, or house music, "Koizumi" has been singing wide range of songs. But for Light & mellow, the Disk 3, which is introduced in this trailer might be a little more fascinating.
Anyway, it's a "3 disks in 1 set", but good value for money.
