His skillful play, and a talent creates elegant melodies which make effective use of tension chords, are well known.
And his warm and cheerful personality attracts not just the fans of Casiopea, but general citizens too.
Mr. Mukaiya has been a devoted railway enthusiast since he was a boy, and now, he is one of the most famous character among railfans across Japan.
His ardent love for the railway drove him to create a train simulator game software named "Train Simulator" in the mid '90s. And it became a big hit as a family use game series.

- Sound impressions
Smooth & stylish piano track
This is a smooth and refined piano Jazz in little faster swing rhythm.
After the clear acoustic sound of the piano for introduction, the drums, bass, electric guitar and the brass join and start melody together.
A boosted sound of the bass add power to the song, and the masterly drums amazes us.
The finger dancing of the guitar solo is marvellous, and the purified piano sound is just beautiful.
An instrumental song featuring acoustic piano at this importance is rare in the hundreds of Casiopea's line up.
Perhaps the best piano tune in the history of Casiopea.
This track is positioned immediately after the dramatic grand instrumental suit "Universe", of which the playing time exceeds 25 minutes.
So, this calm and elegant piano tune would be a breath of fresh air for the listeners enjoyed a dynamic play right before.

(Wikipedia, CASIOPEA)
Casiopea is one of the pioneer of the Japanese fusion music.
From late '70s to the mid 80's, quite a few of remarkable fusion players (Prism, The square, Native son, Naniwa express, Spectrum, Takanaka, etc), had been debuted one after the other, and created an explosive fusion boom .
Among them, Casiopea gained the top class popularity because of their distinctive jaunty sound and an outstanding super technique.
Their sound and play attracted fans in overseas as well, and became popular.
Actually, they are one of the rare Japanese musicians in history achieved a certain level of recognition in overseas.
Just a memo, but we have heard the odd spelling of their band name "Casiopea" comes from "Hepburn romanization" rule, applicable when writing Japanese words in the Latin alphabet. The pronunciation is close to "Cassiopeia".
They say it is a lot easy to read for the Japanese people. As a local, it is agreeable.
Topics on Casiopea are many, so we would like to continue for the next time.
