About the creators

Mick Jackson Composer

Mick Jackson is a British singer-songwriter active since 1978.

Mick is the original singer of today's song "Blame It On The Boogie", but also credited as a "composer, or co-author".

On this song, all the people wrote this song, namely Mick Jackson, David Jackson, Elmar Krohn, Hans Kampschroer, and Thomas Meyer were credited as Composers, and not mentioning who did what.

We sometimes see this way of writing on some western songs, and feeling this as an interesting cultural difference.

Anyway, we would like to refer to Mr. Mick Jackson in this section, and in the next section for the other composers.

Sound impression

Relaxing & acoustic

This is a relaxing, and acoustic vocal song in lounge Jazz style in a slow swing rhythm.

Mellow & pure

The acoustic guitar, acoustic piano, and Double bass begin a gentle, and natural introduction.

In the main part, Susan sings a Jazz arranged popular dance pop in her slight husky, but gentle voice.

The percussion and chorus also join later, and add a nice touch.

Early times

According to Wikipedia, Susan Wong was born in Hong Kong, but she move to Australia together with her family when she was six years old.

She had been musically active in her young age, and set herself to learn the piano, or join the choir.

When she was six or seventeen, her parents entered her for a karaoka contest hosted by a Hong Kong's local television TVB, and held in Sydney for the first time.

Luckily, she won the contest, and a producer of TVB offered her to debut, but she didn't select that option, but chose to continue to study more in the school.

Debut

While she was studying in the University in Australia, she had a timing to came back to Hong Kong during summer break. And coincidently, she happened to have an opportunity to have a vocal audition at a recording studio.

She passed the audition, and eventually, she released her first album "Janelle Wong" under "Janelle Wong" name, in Hong Kong and Japan in 1997.

But she didn't continue singer's career this time, but went back to Australia to finish her study at the University.

Another debut

After Wong" gained her CPA certification, she returned to Hong Kong where her family live, and started an accountant's career.

But one day, she received a phone call from a person who used to work for the record company (Rock In Music), that "Wong" released her first album in the past.

According to the person, they are now producing audiophile CDs.

The audiophile queen

CDs for audiophiles are a little bit special, since they are designed to test the high-end reference audio systems of those audiophiles.

On the CDs, the sound samples with wide dynamic range are usually recorded, like from a breath of sparrow to thunder. Acoustic Jazz live is also a good material since it contains pulsive signals.

On the other hand, a many of normal music CDs like audio CDs also exist. But the sound is tuned for audio check purpose.

The majority of Audiophiles are men. And, they are mostly senior. Since the "good audio systems" are not easily affordable for young men.

Therefore, the listeners of the audio CDs tend to be senior men. And for that reason, the instrumentals of oldies, like Pops & Jazz of the '60s, '70s & '80s, had been the the preferred materials for the audiophile CDs.

"Wong" suggested if she can sing for those CDs, since singing the oldies in the '70s, or '80s was the area which she was very good at.

And this lead her to release first album "Close To You" as Susan Wong.

In 2004, she released her 2nd album, "I Wish You Love" under same concept.

She continued to release good vocal albums, but always paying enough attention to achieve qualities which satisfy the audiophiles.

And thanks to these effort, she came to be called as the "Queen of Hi-fi", or "Queen of audiophile" in the process.

Video clip

Finally, here is h"Susan Wong"'s 2015 song, "Kiss Me".

This song was released as a Digital single, and it seems it has not been included in the CDs.

It is a sunny, a bit country touch pop song. If you like, please listen.

The set play back volume of this video clip is a little too high, and it might be recommendable to lower the volume before play.

Thank you.
