Takashi Matsumoto is one of the most popular lyricist in J-pop.
Yuji Kawashima is a long serving keyboardist and an arranger, since the early 80s.

A bouncing pops in a swing Jazz arrangement.
The ragtime touch acoustic piano and a gorgeous horn section creates an image of the gangster's faburous life in the early 20th century.
Yoshitaka Minami's vocal sounds sweet and cool in the charming melody of this song.

Yoshitaka Minami debuted in 1973 with single "Oira gang dazo"(I am a gangster). Since then, 33 singles, and 21 original, 8 best, and 7 cover albums have been released until now.

Yoshitaka Minami is one of the 1st generation modern J-pop artist, in other words, a member of debuted in the early '70s.
He is also one of the best known "City-pop" artist.
He has written a number of hit song sung by himself, but also offered a many songs for the other artists.
And quite a few of them became a smash hit.
Here is an interesting song of him titled "Monroe walk".
The original song of this was sung by him and first released for the "City-pop" market.
The song was then covered by the different but popular singer "Hiromi Gou" in a different arrangement, and released for the "main stream pops market"(which is commercially significant).
In the popular song market in Japan, there is a few segmentations, like a main stream market, or a niche market like "city-pop".
There is an apparent difference in a preference of the arrangement of music.
These 2 different arrangements of "Monroe walk" became a smash hit in both market.
So, it can be said, that the each arrangement is representing a preference of each market.
