He has offered quite a few of songs for the other musicians, but particularly a lot for "Seiko Satō".

It may be because the both of them belonged to Forlife records, and the direction of their music can be harmonizable.

Seiko Satō is actually a quite good composer. And her ability to create stunning chord sequence is really remarkable.

Sound impressions

This is a crisp and sunny refreshing pop music with a pleasant spring morning like image.

The bass, electronic & acoustic piano, and an electric guitar start the introduction with comfortable 16 beat hi-hat rhythm. Then, impressive glissando by the acoustic piano signals the opening.

Warm and tender tone of the flute brings an image of the soothing breeze, and a shiny sound of the string synth reminds us of the sun sparkle on the water.

A frequent use of a modulation(key change) is effective for making the melody more dramatic and colorful, and contributing to give a stylish impression.

Seiko Satō's vocal is refreshingly natural and cheerful, and energizes the listeners.

* What's glissando?

  1. About the artist

A pop singer & Flamenco dancer

Seiko Satō debuted in 1992 with single "Moonlight Wolf". Since then, 13 singles, and 6 original albums has been released until now.
(Wikipedia, Seiko Satō)

In the late '80s, a few of talented female singer-song writers were debuted and performing well.

The number of such musicians were increasing and it looked like a presage of coming boom.

The anticipation came true, and unseen number of fine female artists had been debuted in the early '90s. And this episode is often called "Girl's pop movement of the '90s".

The timing of her debut was coincided with this. Among those stars of singers, her performance was particularly striking for the fans of the stylish pop music. She quickly entered the spot-light, and obtained a lot of core fans.

One remark is, that the '90s was a transient period which the dance music took over the position of the most popular music from existing pop music.

Seiko Satō's are highly refined pop songs, and in a sense, they are a legitimate pop music of the J-pop.

So, the all the artists creating such type of music had to have a tough time especially in the late '90s.

Under such circumstances, Seiko Satō made a bit of decision.

In 2003, she switched her main stage from music to the flamenco dance.

Actually, she has a long experience for flamenco since childhood. She flew to Spain and polished her skills again by learning from authentic dancers, after she moved from music.

Now, she is a teacher of the flamenco dance in Japan, and active as a professional dancer of the flamenco.

We have some more of her songs to be introduced, and would like to continue the other day.
